Housemates... can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em!

Tuesday, 3 September 2013
So my new housemates are doing a dramatic reading of my blog, hence the title. Actors, am I right?! So I've moved house (finally!) and am living with two lovely friends (also actors) in Walthamstow, London. The house is still kind of a building site and not completely finished, which is stressful, but it's going to look lovely when it's finished! We're really excited to start doing DIY and make it into a proper home.

I've also started a new job (the regular bill-paying kind) which is dull but necessary and am going on as many auditions as possible, so things are moving along nicely :) I still have my showcase to go on the 19th of September and then I'll be properly finished with my MA. It was honestly the best year of my life, I've learnt so much and met so many incredible people, but I feel ready and excited to leave.

Other than that I went to Edinburgh for a couple of days to see the Fringe Festival. If you've read my blog before you'll know that I'm normally there for the month but this year I was too busy so visiting for a weekend had to suffice. I had a lovely drunken few days and saw as many people and shows as possible. Then I went to Croatia with my Mum and brother, which was equally lovely and possibly more drunken!

As soon as the house is properly finished and I'm unpacked I'm going to start doing outfit posts like I used to. Now that I'm not wearing black lycra every day (sounds so much more sexy than it is in reality) I might actually have outfits that I'd want to share on the blog! So look out for that and more, as posting should be a lot more regular and interesting (hopefully!).

I'm also setting up a lifestyle blog with my new housemates where you can follow our attempts at you know, living in the real world. It will probably be full of DIY, art, poetry, cooking, cat pictures, you know the drill... along with some insight into our lives as actors. So look out for that coming soon!

For now, if you want to stalk my Pinterest board for the new house then feel free, it's an endless source of procrastination for me and I must be careful to watch my addiction before it gets out of hand!

My brother and I in Croatia. Yes, he is ridiculously tanned, and yes I am as pale as ever. What are you gonna do eh?!

Busy Bee

Hello, long time no see!

I've been busy finishing my MA in Acting, performing in my first professional production with my new theatre company, and rehearsing for my second. Apart from that I've been applying for lots of auditions, trying to find a regular job to pay the bills, and looking for a new flat to move into in a few weeks! So I think the title is rather apt!

I can't wait to go on holiday to Croatia at the end of August with my family, I can feel my body aching for a sleep on the beach! I'm not going to the Edinburgh Fringe for the first time in three years, and I'm kind of gutted about it. If I can scrape the money together I'd love to visit for a few days, but it all depends on work and money!

Here's a cheeky snap of me in the last week of school! Can't wait to get back to updating the blog regularly, I've missed it and my readers :)

I've been updating my acting and photography websites today, so check them out - the links are in the navigation bar up at the top!

I've also been reading Duma Key by Stephen King. I'm a few chapters in and it's brilliant so far, I love it. My friend lent it to me ages ago and I've only just got round to reading it. I'm kind of glad though because it's a good book to read when it's as warm as this. If you want to keep up to date with what I'm reading, don't forget to follow me on Goodreads - link in the sidebar.

Have a good evening all!

An irregular occurrence

Tuesday, 16 April 2013
I don't normally talk about personal stuff on here, not really sure why, maybe because I don't want potential employers to see my personal life. But something happened recently to me that isn't great but that has led to me writing a lot more frequently. So I thought I'd share a couple of poems, because I'm not really sharing much else at the moment on here... so why not?! And if you like them then maybe I'll share more in future ;)

The Hive

From the eyes up all is a blur
Colours bleed and lines merge
Words are slow and thoughts are...
From the jaw down all is alive
Teeth tight, jaw clench, heart pound
Twitch and tap, wring flick dab,
Senses atune to all that surrounds
Alert, aware, protect the muffled hive of my head.
The smoke is thick at present.
They are asleep though, not dead.

Bitten beds, flaking and frail
A tell-tale sign of the sorry tale
Dry mouth, dampened palm
Evidence of the truest harm
Pain that won't recede
It's your fault - you didn't heed
The warning, the amber light
You conceded, you gave up the fight
Ignored the signs, far too old, too wise
To need advice from one undisguised
By niceties, free from 'oh no I'm sure it's fine'
So of your own free will you crossed that line.
What did you expect
For them to protect...

Obviously I don't want to assume anyone thinks my words worth plagiarising, but it goes without saying that these are written by me and so please don't use them without permission.

Hope either you somewhat enjoyed reading those, or at least they struck a chord with anyone who's feeling anything similar.

I made the most delicious thing EVER last night so I might just have to post the recipe here for you. Beware, it contains a lot of cream, and pastry, but you will never enjoy leeks this much that it's worth the calories. YES.

Wow! I haven't posted in ages and a lot has happened in that time. The main reason I haven't posted is because I got into drama school, which has basically taken over my life. I'm on a one year Acting MA at East 15 Acting School, which is amazing, but also very intensive and time consuming.

I also spend 5 days a week wearing black, black, black. My trainers are black and pink, but apart from that I'm pretty devoid of colour. Except for my hair! So I don't get much time to even think about, let alone wear nice clothes to post here. So I apologise for letting this blog go, hopefully when I graduate I'll have a lot more time to keep up with it.

I finish this summer and then go back for a couple of weeks in September for my industry showcase and then that's it. I'm out into the real world... finally! I graduated from Bristol last summer and spent the summer in Edinburgh doing a couple of plays. I think I'll be spending this summer in London, hopefully working and earning money!

I spent this Easter in the Lake District with some friends, just escaping from work and pollution! It was nice to get away into the mountains and spend time eating, playing board games, watching films, visiting little villages and walking in the mountains.

Here's a couple of photos from this Easter, hopefully I'll be able to update a bit before the summer, but I may not. I'm going back to London tomorrow to get on with all the work I have, and then the last (and longest) term starts on the 15th and we have a hell of a lot of work!! So if you read this then thanks for popping by and hopefully I'll be back soon!
